Bringing Glory To God

Written by Joe Schlosser on .

"How do you know if what you do brings 'glory' to God? I'm trying to completely understand 'righteousness' and 'glory to God'. I've always wondered these things. Thank you."

This was a great question we received on one of our video sites from Lori K.

The answer I believe lies in our relationship with Jesus first and foremost. For it is through that relationship that we have access to God the Father. God our Father created us in His image. He is deeply involved in our lives and yearns for that personal relationship with each and everyone of us. I believe He has created each of us for a special purpose and gifted each of us to accomplish that purpose.

Matthew 6:33 states that if we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, then all else will be given to us.

When have you felt the most alive? What were you doing? I believe it is in those moments of doing what we love to do that we find our "being" revealed. For me it is when I get the chance to help other believers discover what they were truly created to be doing - I call it when my "doing" and "being" come together and work as one. Or being able to use my gifts as a graphic artist and marketing person to help advance God's kingdom. The "being " is who you are - your values, the person you are when no one is looking. The "doing" is what you love to do , that which makes you the happiest, feeling fulfilled.

Bringing glory to God I believe means doing things that are in sync with the Father's love for us. Through that loving others with the unconditional love Jesus talks about and allowing the Fruit of the Spirit to be released through us.

When do you know if something is from the Lord through the Holy Spirit? There are simple filters I use to test everything -

1. Does it align with God's Word the Bible? If it goes against what God says in the Bible then it probably is not from the Lord.
2. Do other believers witness to it? Do you have others saying " This is perfect for you!" or " I agree with where you're going or what you are doing."
3. Does it exalt Jesus Christ now and in the future?
4. Does it bear fruit?

If you can answer "yes" to the above questions, then you can be pretty sure it is from the Lord and would bring glory to Him.

Are you bringing "glory to God" through what you are doing?  We would love to hear your thoughts on this subject.  Leave your comments below so we can continue the conversation.
